News Sources -

Many people have asked for a list of my favorite news sources. Here's the top few, off the top of my head:
  1. Democracy Now! - http://www.democracynow.org/ - My number one source of news. Amy Goodman is the hardest working journalist in the business. She is completely independent, even angering ex-President Clinton. She is truly non-partisan. Every week day begins with Amy Goodman in the Travis household.
  2. Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting: http://www.fair.org/index.php
  3. The Oil Factor - http://www.theoilfactor.com/ - great source for where the money is going and the truth about why we went into this crazy, ill-advised war.
  4. NOW Action Network - http://www.now.org/lists/now-action-list/ - great list of organizations working towards change across the board, including NARAL.
  5. Darfur Situation - http://savedarfur.org/ - the latest in the Darfur situation, updated daily. THIS SITUATION IS IN CRISIS, IT IS NOT GOING AWAY.
  6. Katrina Clearance House - http://www.katrinaaction.org/ - this is a GREAT source for Katrina information, what's happening with legislative efforts, what's happening with evacuees voting rights, how to help, etc.
  7. Wondering what the cost of the war is in your neighborhood? Go to http://www.costofwar.com/ - a clearing house of other information is contained therein as well.
  8. Sojourner Network - Excellent source for faith-based, non-fanatical people: www.sojo.net.
  9. Some very useful facts about President Bush - http://www.thetruthaboutgeorge.com/.
  10. Link TV - http://www.linktv.org/, this is by far the only news source I use for TV. It is great, truly independent television.
  11. Yes! Magazine - http://www.yesmagazine.org/, great magazine and great website for useful information across the spectrum of issues facing the nation and the world.
  12. And yes, over the last 3 years I have taken a decidedly turn towards the center. In that vein, I have taken a liking to Greta Van Sustren. Here's her blog: http://gretawire.foxnewsinsider.com/author/greta/. Great became one my hero's because she was the ONLY media person to call out Tucker Carlson for his disgusting feature on Mike Tyson's remarks on Gov. Palin. I've had enough with the same asshole men saying the same old crap about women, whether it's Palin or Clinton. I'm also fed up with women saying "Any woman but that woman. The truth is, we need women from every part of the political spectrum, just as men now represent every viewpoint. Women need to win conservative seats AND liberal seats. As well as independent seats.
